ARTÉ FOUNDER - ANDULELA SUKA
Thanks to her mother’s influence, Andulela Suka was immersed in the hospitality industry from a young age. Growing up, her mother managed catering and restaurant businesses, and the family’s love language revolved around actively working during
holiday periods. This tradition continues to be a significant part of Andulela’s life. Her mother ignited her passion for the industry, leading her to pursue a degree in Hospitality Management at Stenden South Africa. During her studies, she gained international exposure by traveling to Switzerland and representing her school at the Young Hoteliers Summit at the EHL Business School in
Lausanne.
Andulela’s journey continued with an internship at the Broadmoor Hotel, a prestigious AAA 5-star property in Colorado Springs, that taught her a great deal of providing excellent customer service. Subsequently, she ventured to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), working in the Front of House department in hotels and serving as an Assistant to the Vice President of Food & Beverage
for Rotana at their headquarters.
After spending three years in the UAE, Andulela returned to South Africa, where she worked as an Assistant Front Office Manager.
Her dedication and skills led to a promotion to Duty Manager at Leeu Estates, a position that involved relieving the Hotel Manager. Unfortunately, due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the hotel closed down. In response to this setback, Andulela swiftly adapted by pursuing a Post Graduate Diploma in Management at Henley Business School. Simultaneously, she
established her own company, providing catering services & wine distribution.
Currently, Andulela is excited to collaborate with the University of Johannesburg at the Auckland Park Campus to operate a restaurant at the Art Centre theatre, catering to both UJ staff and students. This opportunity not only provides a platform for showcasing her services and expertise but also marks a significant milestone in her entrepreneurial journey.
YOUR HEALTH MATTERS TO US
Research has shown that South Africa is one of the most unhealthiest countries in the world. Non-Communicable diseases (NCDs) stand as the primary global cause of mortality, comprising 51% of all fatalities in South Africa. Examples of NCDs encompass cardiovascular diseases (CVD), diabetes, cancer, and chronic respiratory diseases, with cardiovascular issues being the predominant factor in NCD-related mortality rates. The close correlation between these diseases and unhealthy eating habits, particularly an excessive intake of salt, is noteworthy.
At the Arté, our unique selling point lies in presenting health as a trendy choice
while ensuring that the flavor remains delightful, aiming to contribute to the
battle against non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
